Fresh turmeric tea with ginger

Making your own ginger tea with turmeric is super easy. These are the ingredients you need:

Ingredients for turmeric ginger tea

  • G'nger pure
  • Fresh turmeric or turmeric powder
  • Lemon
  • Hot water
  • Possibly honey
 

Take a tea glass and put fresh turmeric (or turmeric powder) in it, together with about 10 ml of G'nger, a slice of lemon and possibly a little honey to give the tea a slightly sweeter flavour. Then pour boiling water over the mixture in the glass and stir it gently. Let it cool down and your cup of tea is ready.

What is turmeric?

Turmeric is a yellow-coloured spice, which originates from India. Turmeric is similar to ginger in a way. Not only because they have the same colour, but also because they both come from the root tubers of a plant. Turmeric has a slightly bitter taste and is used in many different dishes (mainly in Indian cuisine). Besides being used as a flavouring in recipes, turmeric is also very healthy, another property that turmeric and ginger share.

How much turmeric to use in tea?

The amount of turmeric in the tea is, of course, completely up to you. As a guideline, most recipes use two or three slices of fresh turmeric or one teaspoon of turmeric powder. If you like your tea strong, you can of course add a little more turmeric. Be aware, however, that if you add ginger in addition to turmeric to your tea, the taste can quickly become overpowering if you use too much of either spice.

Ginger and turmeric together in tea are a very good combination. Not only because ginger turmeric tea tastes delicious, but also because they are both very good for your health. Ginger is known for its positive effect on digestion and combating high blood pressure. Turmeric can help fight inflammation in the body and has an analgesic effect.
